Expanding Access to Diagnostic Assessments

July 21, 2026

For decades, Guild’s Community Access team has served as a connector between people and resources. Whether helping individuals experiencing a crisis, supporting their loved ones or guiding health care providers, our team works to find the right fit for every situation.

This summer, we’re excited to expand our reach by opening one of our most requested services directly to the public: diagnostic assessments.

A diagnostic assessment is often the first step in a mental health journey. During this appointment, a licensed mental health professional takes the time to learn about an individual’s personal history, current concerns, symptoms and life circumstances.

Too often, simply securing this initial appointment is a barrier to care. Guild is working to change that by making the process as seamless and accessible as possible. Waitlists elsewhere can stretch for months, but Guild schedules these essential appointments within weeks. To meet people where they are, we offer assessments both in person and virtually, alongside multiple payment options to ensure financial constraints do not stand in the way of wellness.

This expansion was made possible in part by a generous gift from the Bentson Foundation. Their support allows us to scale our resources, streamline our scheduling and ensure we can show up for our community exactly when they need us most. We are deeply grateful for their partnership in making these services more accessible.

“Opening direct access to diagnostic assessments is a major milestone in our work to dismantle barriers to mental health care,” said Diana Harris, Guild’s director of clinical services. “By offering flexible formats, multiple payment paths and shorter wait times, we are ensuring that when someone is ready to take that courageous first step, the door is wide open for them.”

At Guild, our approach goes beyond standard evaluations and clinical protocols. We take the time to listen, understand personal goals and build a comprehensive picture of an individual’s situation. From there, we help identify the best path forward, whether that includes therapy, case management or other specialized support. By bridging the gap between an initial assessment and ongoing care, we are proud to help more members of our community take their first steps toward healing.
