This new center will be a place for clients dealing with many different types and degrees of mental illness to receive the care they need to start their recovery journey. Most importantly, the center will allow clients to receive treatment without having to travel long distances for care. We know from our three decades of experience that people living with mental illness heal best when they feel the support of their loved ones, support system, and chosen community around them.
The Details
The Dakota County Crisis and Recovery Center, coming in at 15,000 square feet, will feature 16 bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms, office space, laundry facilities, two kitchens, a shared living room, therapeutic and meditation rooms, and more, in an environment specifically designed to promote calm and healing. We want all of our clients to feel comfortable and at ease while they’re with us.
More specifically, the center includes:
- a Crisis Residential Service (CRS) program, run by Guild, where adults experiencing an acute mental health crisis can receive care and support for up to 10 days
- an Intensive Residential Treatment Service (IRTS) program, run by Guild, that provides up to 90 days of focused treatment interventions for adults who may be transitioning from or need an alternative to psychiatric hospital care
- a 24-hour mental health assessment and crisis service, run by Dakota County, to connect clients to resources and recovery support in the community
The facility recently hosted the Dakota County Project Committee, who had the opportunity to tour the building and see all of the exciting updates in-person. We’re eager to see this project nearing the home stretch, so we can bring our 30+ years of experience providing quality mental health and supportive housing care to more clients living in Dakota County!
A new chapter of hope is beginning in Minnesota thanks to partnerships and support — notably, the extraordinary generosity of the O’Gara family, who gave the largest single donation in Guild history to furnish and operationalize the center’s first year. We’re also immensely grateful for the continued partnership of Dakota County in this project. Opening in 2025, this space will provide a lifeline to countless residents, offering healing, support, and a sense of belonging.
